| Failure
indicators to look for: |
 |
- Cracking, splitting or
distortion of the cast aluminum base.
- Stress cracks around the
mounting bolts or elongation of the mounting holes.
- Cracking splitting or
distortion of the flange holding the first segment.
- Marks on the segment
indicating slippage of the screws.
- Stress cracks or mushrooming
around the mounting screws for each segment.
- Cracking or distortion of the flange holding the second
segment or marks on the third segment indicating slippage of
the mounting screws.
- Is the mounting pod bent? Cracks around the weld holding
the pods in place are common failures.
- Torsion damage...slippage, cracking, splitting,
distortion.
